Vinbeskrivelse
The varieties were brought to the Cape, by the early Dutch settlers. They are part of the cornerstones of grape growing in the Cape of Good Hope. More than three centuries they have been cultivated, by the colourful people of our vibrant land. The wine is a celebration of 350 years of heritage, in a land of hope.
All the vineyards are planted in the Stellenbosch area, on old and weathered soils of decomposed granite and/or table mountain sandstone. The proximity to False Bay is close. The old vine Chenin Blanc reveals fruit complexities, the Semillon adds spice and rich texture. The small amount of Muscat gives floral lift to the wine.
B VINTNERS explores vineyards and celebrates the rich heritage of the Cape of Good Hope, with artisan crafted wines. HAARLEM to HOPE, a heritage blend, was made with minimal intervention, to allow the special varieties to express themselves in this unique wine.
Tasting
The wine has bright fruit concentration on the nose, which follows through onto the palate. There is tension and excitement all at once. Nectarine, pear and melon are given depth by touches of spice, lemongrass and ginger, while hints of florals are a further dimension. Time in oak, with close lees contact, has helped to give the wine breadth and depth, still remaining fresh and focused, with saline and savoury linger on the palate.
